At a wreath-laying ceremony held at Bem Square in Budapest in commemoration of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and fight for independence, Minister of State for Government Communication Bence Tuzson placed a wreath in representation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

At the event traditionally organised by the University of Technology and Economics, the “University of Technology 1956” Foundation and the Rákóczi Association, Minister of State Bence Tuzson paid his respects and placed a commemorative wreath at the statue of József Bem.

The Rákóczi Association regards the events of the 1956 Revolution and fight for independence as a still living example of active solidarity on the part of the Hungarian people. In addition to secondary school and university students invited to the event, the commemoration was also attended by significant representatives of Hungarian and foreign political and public life.

Several commemorative events are being held both nationwide and in the capital on the anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and fight for independence. On the morning of 22 October, the Rákóczi Association held a memorial in Budapest, which included a Carpathian Basin youth meeting and a history quiz for secondary school students. Following the event, In accordance with tradition, a torchlight procession began from the University of Technology to József Bem Square, where the wreath-laying ceremony was held.
