In the first six days of the year, some 900 prohibited border-crossing attempts were made on the Hungarian-Serbian, Hungarian-Croatian and Hungarian-Romanian border sections, the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said on the public service television news channel M1 on Wednesday morning.

By György Bakondi’s account, ever more migrants are arriving in Serbia, and therefore the Hungarian authorities must do everything they can to protect the borders.

As they expect migration to intensify, the government has decided to increase the number of soldiers serving at the border, he added.
