On Tuesday, Minister of State for Government Communication Bence Tuzson told a press conference that the Government will consider every recommendation relating to the constitutional amendment because it is regarded as a national issue.
Mr. Tuzson said that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has held talks with President of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) Gyula Molnár who made it clear that the socialists do not support the constitutional amendment and will not participate in the related process either.
Mr. Orbán asked him to express their support in some way; even if not in Hungary, then at least in EU forums. In addition, the Prime Minister informed Mr. Molnár on the issues that are on the agenda of the upcoming European Council meeting, including the quota issue, Mr. Tuzson said.
Mr. Tuzson further said that the Prime Minister has also held one-to-one talks with President of Jobbik Gábor Vona who made further recommendations including the ban of the residency bond programme. The Minister of State noted that that “this has been one of the many proposals of the Jobbik President”.
Mr. Tuzson underlined that the Government will examine every suggestion made so far and to be made in the upcoming period.
The Prime Minister would be open for talks with the President of LMP as well, Mr. Tuzson added and recalled that from among parliamentary group leaders Mr. Orbán first met the President of the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) Zsolt Semjén last week who assured the Prime Minister of his support of the Government’s efforts.
In response to a question, Mr. Tuzson said that Parliament is expected to vote on the constitutional amendment on 8 November as previously planned.
