Hungary is able to keep away and to control illegal border-crossers. Hungarian border protection has become exemplary.

Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said the migration crisis has been discussed recently at a number of important forums, including the Athens meeting of the Arraiolos Group.

Mr Bakondi said if only a fraction of ever-increasing populations decides to set out, even then people in very large numbers could come to Europe. Cooperation between states within the European Union is crucial from the viewpoint of migration, but so is the stance taken by municipalities, he said.

He highlighted that there could be serious consequences if settlements were to believe that they would receive money in exchange for simply taking in a few migrants. This has already brought about serious consequences in many places, the chief advisor pointed out, mentioning as examples that in such settlements one can observe the development of no-go areas, and a rise in stabbing incidents, acts of terrorism and common crimes.
