Those will have to pay for the PCR test designed to demonstrate the presence of the coronavirus who decide to be tested on a voluntary basis, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister said in a video message posted on the government’s Facebook account on Thursday.
Csaba Dömötör recalled that this week the cabinet had decided to introduce a fixed official price for PCR tests. This fixed price will be HUF 19,500 which includes both sample collection and the test itself.
It is important to know that if testing is ordered by a general practitioner, hospital or authority based on the relevant protocol, also in the future the test will be free of charge, the State Secretary highlighted, observing that so far 580,000 samples have been taken in Hungary, mostly free of charge.
The fixed price will apply to persons who request a PCR test on a voluntary basis, for instance in order to be released from mandatory home quarantine with two negative test results after returning from abroad.
The goal is to ensure that no one should “profiteer” from the tests, this is what the government’s decision seeks to serve, Mr Dömötör stressed.
