Csaba Dömötör, Minister of State at the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister takes the view that the quota referendum to be held on 2 October is not about parties, but about the future of Hungary.
The Minister of State said in response to the press conference of Csaba Molnár, Acting Vice-President of the political formation Demokratikus Koalíció (DK), held on Tuesday: the referendum is about whether Brussels has the right to decide whom the Hungarians should live together with.
The Brussels plans involve too great a risk, and the Government is therefore asking everyone to say no to forced resettlement, he said.
Mr Dömötör pointed out: DK’s campaign to begin next week will be an excellent opportunity for the party to finally clarify whether it supports forced resettlement or not.
Csaba Molnár said regarding his party’s position: if the referendum proves to be invalid and unsuccessful, the Prime Minister and his Government must resign.
