On Tuesday, Parliament could revoke the special legal order declared due to the coronavirus epidemic which is “ample proof” of the Left’s lack of credibility, Spokesperson of the Government Communication Centre Örs Farkas said on Kossuth Radio’s programme ‘Good morning, Hungary’ on Tuesday.
The spokesperson said at the time of the introduction of the special legal order, left-wing parties led domestic and international public opinion to believe that this is a dictatorial means, opposition Members of Parliament will be jailed and “it’s game over” for the opposition press.
“The purpose of these political campaigns was – as that’s what they were – to undermine the efforts of the government, health care workers and experts who worked hard night and day to enable Hungary to successfully close the first phase of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic,” the spokesperson said.
He added that when their attempts failed, left-wing parties turned to international public opinion and politics, and tried to create an atmosphere as if Hungary “had resorted to an outlandish, dictatorial means”. In actual fact, the Hungarian government resorted precisely to the same means and measures as other Western European countries, he pointed out.
