The stabilisation of the Balkans region is an important economic, political and security interest for Europe.

Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said illegal migration is increasing in response to a combination of factors. It is uncertain how this process will change in the future as there is no way of knowing what will happen in Turkey or Syria.

Regarding the Slovenian Prime Minister’s visit to Budapest on Monday, he mentioned that Slovenia itself experienced – as did Hungary – what uncontrolled illegal migration was.

Similar to Hungary, Slovenia, too, wishes to do everything it can to stop migration at the furthest possible point. This is why Hungarian police officers are serving in North Macedonia also at present, and Hungary will continue to provide assistance in the future as well, Mr Bakondi said.
