In an address before the start of Parliament’s daily business on Monday, Head of Cabinet of the Prime Minister Antal Rogán said that the threat of mandatory resettlement quotas still exists, as Brussels is still pushing for mandatory distribution and the forced resettlement of migrants among Member States.

Mr. Rogán said that so far more than one million people have entered Europe, and if the Juncker formula was to be applied, it would mean the resettlement of fifteen thousand people and their families to Hungary.

He emphasised that the Government will continue its fight against the quota system, and by 14 December it will file a challenge against the mandatory resettlement scheme at the European Court of Justice. Mr. Rogán said that the Government is obliged to do so by the result of the national consultation and Hungarian citizens’ rejection of the quota system.
