Minister of State for Government Communication Bence Tuzson said the UN’s migration proposal was pro-immigration to an extreme extent, adding that “several elements of the proposal are significantly reminiscent of the Soros Plan”.

“The United Nations wants Hungary to demolish the border barrier, admit migrants and pay the price for doing so”, the politician said, stating: “Hungary rejects this idea entirely; this is an issue with regard to which Hungary will decide, not the United Nations”.

“We will do everything possible in order to prevent them from transforming Hungary into an immigrant country, and enable it to remain as it is”, he said.

Mr. Tuzson indicated, that a latest round of negotiations about the legislative of migration package (Compact or Migration) is due to begin on Monday, and Hungary will be represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó,  who will present the Government’s 12-points position on the issue. “The goal is to alter the UN’s proposal from being pro-immigration to anti-immigration”, he said, emphasising: “The UN agreement will only be acceptable to Hungary if it’s standpoint prevails, meaning if the 12 points are included in the text of the current proposal”.

Moreover, he called it a success for Hungary that thanks to determined action they have succeeded in achieving that the leader of the EU delegation will not be able to put forward a joint EU standpoint on the issue in New York, in view of the fact that no such common position exists. “Accordingly, Hungary will be able to represent its own standpoint, and will be able to explain why it does not agree with the UN’s migration package, which the government believes is dangerous on a global scale, as it would organise migration on a global level”, the Minister of State for Government Communication said.

“In the first intergovernmental debate, the head of the EU delegation took the floor despite the fact that there was no joint EU standpoint. By doing so, he deceived the international community, because he made it look as if there existed a common opinion in favour of immigration in Europe”, Mr. Tuzson added.
