Representing the Government of Hungary at the US presidential nominating convention on Thursday, Csaba Dömötör Parliamentary State Secretary at the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister told MTI that the United States is an important ally to Hungary, and the strengthened cooperation is a fundamental value in Hungary.
Speaking about the Republican convention held until Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Dömötör stressed that the issue of migration and the terror attacks committed recently received great attention at the event. Similar to the Government of Hungary, members of the Republican Party also consider the protection of the reinforced borders important, he added. One of the speakers of the convention pointed out that a country that cannot protects its own borders, is no country at all, the State Secretary reiterated.
On Tuesday, the second day of the convention in Cleveland Donald Trump, New York businessman was elected presidential candidate of the party. The politician will officially accept the nomination in his address on Thursday. The Democratic Party’s presidential candidate will be former Secretary of State for Foreign Policy, former president Bill Clinton’s wife.
