According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács’s communication, it is necessary to hold consultations with the European Commission as to whether the report of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) regarding metro line 4 may be published, and if so, in what form.

The Government Spokesperson said on the evening programme of the public service current affairs news channel M1 that, beyond political responsibility, it will be necessary to determine who may have liability under criminal law in the case. Mr Kovács took the view that, in many respects, the case concerns a segment of the „Demszky era”, involving the left-wing metropolitan leadership and large international corporations.

In the context of the reinstatement of immigration detention, the Government Spokesperson stressed: while the legal framework and the fence are mostly able to stop illegal migration in Hungary, there are no similar regulations in the EU. As it is difficult to determine the identities of the individuals arriving here, it is necessary to take precautionary measures which also observe EU law, he added.
