The events of 20 August are under way in Budapest without extraordinary events; a record number of visitors are expected to attend the programmes.

Minister of State Zoltán Kovács, head of the operational corps responsible for the safe implementation of the celebrations said due to hot weather conditions, there were minor health issues, but no major problems emerged. The celebratory events are going to plan, and so far nothing has disturbed them.

He stressed that they are expecting a record number of visitors. Up until 2.00 p.m. more than five thousand people visited the Parliament Building, while they are expecting hundreds of thousands of people to view the evening fireworks display.

The Minister of State indicated that the operational corps had been in session periodically since the morning, and would continue its job until the end of the events and the evacuation of the venues.
