He said in the past few days, discipline has relaxed in Budapest and the environs, traffic has been almost back to normal. The restrictions on movement only make sense if members of the public cooperate and comply with the regulations, he pointed out with reference to the fact that during the Easter holidays an explosive rise could occur in the number of infections.

He also highlighted that everyone must understand that while 80 per cent of the population are asymptomatic, the virus poses a particular threat to the remaining 20 per cent.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will decide on the extension or tightening of the restrictions on movement after consultations on Thursday afternoon, he added.
