“The Government is launching an internet consultation on regulatory issues that have arisen as a result of the Verona bus accident”, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács said in the recess of today’s cabinet meeting.
According to Mr. Kovács, following the Strategic Cabinet, the Government has now also reviewed the available information and ongoing discussions with relation to the Verona bus tragedy.
“The Cabinet has decided that it would like to ask and get to know the opinion of as many people as possible on the regulations and changes before coming to a final decision”, the Government Spokesperson told the press.
“To this end, the Government is launching an internet consultation, which will last a month and ask people their opinions on three fundamental issues”, he explained.
One question will concern the issue of whether buses that are transporting young people and students should be allowed to travel between 11 pm and 4 am. The questions also deal with regulations relating to drivers’ medical fitness, with particular attention to sleeping disorders, and on the technical parameters of buses that transport students.
Mr. Kovács indicated that these are seemingly simple, but nevertheless complex issues.
