The same as to date, Hungary will continue to adopt all measures which are necessary in the best interests of border protection and the Hungarian people, the Minister of State for International Communication and Relations stated.

Zoltán Kovács said on Friday Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during which they reviewed the security situation in Turkey, with special regard to the situation in Syria and the large number of refugees. The Turkish President told Mr Orbán that henceforth Turkey would not be able to detain all migrants in its own territory. This will have consequences which the whole of Europe will have to face, he added.

According to the information of the Minister of State, after the telephone conversation, Mr Orbán convened his security cabinet where they reviewed reports of the security services, and decided to further reinforce the protection of Hungary’s borders and to closely monitor proceedings on the Balkans route.

All measures are motivated by the security of the Hungarian people and the protection of Hungarian and European borders, Mr Kovács stated.
