According to Government Spokesperson István Hollik, it is outrageous that Brussels is referring to the migrant cards as a successful programme.
“On Tuesday, the European Commission spokesperson said in reply to a question that the migrant card programme is very successful”, Mr. Hollik recalled.
The Government Spokesperson said it is outrageous that Brussels is talking about a success and about a successful programme, when they are funding terrorists.
“Terrorist leader Hassan F., who is in custody in Hungary, also received money via one of these debit cards. If he was able to receive one, other terrorists could also easily have acquired one”, Mr. Hollik pointed out.
“To this day, the European Commission has not provided a reassuring response to the question of who are using these cards, how many terrorists they have sifted out during the course of checks, and how the users of these cards and their identity are being checked. Instead, they are talking about how successful the migrant card programme is, when in fact they should be replying to these questions concerning how the owners of the migrant cards and the whole programme is being monitored. The Hungarian Government is still waiting for the replies to these questions”, Mr. Hollik declared.
In reply to a question, the Government Spokesperson said the Commission would have acted properly if, at the start of the migration crisis, it had asked member states with relation to the financing of the migrant card programme, and whether or not they would like to use this form of aid. “Not only did this not happen, but the Commission kept the fact that it is spending forty billion forints (EUR 125 million) on this programme secret from member states, and it only emerged by accident. It is evident that the pro-immigration leadership has no intention of terminating this programme”, Mr. Hollik pointed out, stressing: “One of the reasons it is also important for an anti-immigration leader to be appointed head of the Commission is so that this programme and ones like can be stopped”.
