The purpose of all decisions adopted by the government in connection with the coronavirus epidemic is to inhibit and slow down the spread of the virus in order to enable the health care system and health care workers to prepare for offering patients care, Minister of State Zoltán Kovács said.
The head of the cabinet’s communications task force recalled that the restrictions on movement – about which the government had decided on Thursday – had taken effect on Saturday.
The Operational Group also met on Saturday, is continuously monitoring the latest situation and is ready to take action if further measures are required, he explained.
He stressed that all these measures combined could only prove to be sufficient if the government received all possible assistance from members of the Hungarian public. Complying with the rules is not primarily in the Operational Group’s best interests, and is likewise not a question of government decisions; it is in the best interests of every Hungarian, the Minister of State pointed out.
Mr Kovács underlined that “we are all responsible for one another, it is in our best interests to observe the regulations which we have introduced in the past few days and weeks”. “It is this that guarantees that we can take joint action against the spread of the virus,” he said.
