Prime Minister Viktor Orbán continues to firmly and consistently represent the principle with which he set out for the summit in Brussels: only the Hungarian people can decide about the Hungarian people’s money, Minister of State for International Communication and Relations Zoltán Kovács said on Saturday, speaking to the Hungarian news agency MTI by telephone.

Talking about the status of the talks about the long-term EU budget and the economic rescue package, Mr Kovács said there has been some progress on financial issues, with respect to the magnitude of sums and the method of distribution.

He stressed that the Prime Minister continues to conduct the talks relying on the basic principle that there can be no political preconditions attached to the distribution and spending of funds.
