According to the Government Spokesperson, the official opinion issued by the European Commission (EC) on Thursday is in essence an admission that “every single pro-immigration Brussels plan exists”.

At his press conference in Budapest, István Hollik said the Government will be replying in detail to the official opinion issued by the Commission with relation to the Hungarian billboard campaign. In the reply, the Government will be listing the migration-facilitating Brussels plans and decisions with relation to the migrant visa, the quotas, reducing border protection rights, increased funding for Soros organisations, and punishing countries that reject migration.

According to the politician, the above-mentioned plans are already on the table of the European Commission and European Parliament in the form of pre-decision recommendations and resolutions.

“According to the standpoint of the Hungarian Government, the people have a right to know what Brussels is planning to do, since the future of Europe is at stake”, the Government Spokesperson highlighted, adding that Hungary’s reply will be made public.

With relation to the fact that Manfred Weber, group leader of the European People’s Party (EPP), of which Fidesz is also a member, has asked Viktor Orbán to apologise for the billboard campaign attacking Brussels, the Government Spokesperson said the Hungarian Government is happy to listen to all criticism, but it regards the decision of the Hungarian people as more important than party discipline.

“The Hungarian people have decided on several occasions that European Christian culture must be protected, and that accordingly migration must be stopped”, he highlighted. “The Hungarians have a right to know what pro-immigration plans the Brussels bureaucracy has in preparation. This is why we have launched this information campaign, which will come to a close according to schedule on the week of 15 March”, he said.

With relation to the fact that more and more parties are calling for Fidesz to be expelled from the EPP, Mr. Hollik said that it is the Government’s job to represent the people, and this is more important than party discipline within the People’s Party.

Concerning the House of Fates, he told the press that there is already a Holocaust museum in Hungary, so there is no need to rush the opening of the House of Fates. As he explained, the Government has asked Rabbi Slomó Köves to “broker an agreement between the related parties”, and as soon as there is “peaceful agreement on the issue” the Government will open the House of Fates. “According to the Government, what is important is that there be peace and agreement with relation to the House of Fates, but these are currently lacking”, he added.
