On Monday Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian television channel M1 in its morning show that the number one task in the migration crisis should have been to stop migration flows at the borders, and this will be on the agenda of Monday’s EU-Turkey summit.
Mr. Kovács said that this is the eighth migration summit so far, and only now will there be discussion of issues which the Government of Hungary put forward in September 2015. According to this, migration flows should first be stopped at the borders, and only after this should we consider what to do with migrants.
According to Mr. Kovács, border fences have been successful so far, but there is a chance that migrants will find a new route, and we should be prepared for similar measures to be introduced at the Romanian border as well.
