“It must be made clear that the education system prior to 2010 was a complete failure, so this is not a system we can return to”, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács said on Thursday night on M1 Hungarian television.
The Spokesperson stressed: the “catastrophic” results that were characteristic of the education system prior to 2010 made it obvious to the Government that changes must be implemented.
Observations concerning the Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre, teachers’ workloads or the national curriculum are elements of the debate that must be dealt with, he said.
However, he added, the main goal remains the same as previously: that children and Hungarian families should receive a level of service from the education system which stands up to 21st century requirements.
