According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács, there is no stronger deterrent to the organisation of illegal migration than the imposition of sanctions under criminal law.

On Tuesday on the public service television news channel M1 the government spokesperson was interviewed regarding the fact that the debate of the “Stop Soros” bill package and the related constitutional amendment had begun in Parliament on Tuesday.

Mr Kovács highlighted they have made it clear in the past few years that for them Hungary comes first, and one by one they have closed the loopholes which certain individuals and organisations had previously used to organise or encourage migration.

In the context of the planned amendment of the Fundamental Law, he said the purpose of the amendment is to steel our constitutional identity.

Regarding the fact that both the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) and Amnesty International protested against the “Stop Soros” legislative package, Mr Kovács said that, in his view, this indicates just what the government should take action against. He pointed out that officials and organisations stand up in a pro-migration role as the supporters of the views held by the “Soros universe” who have never been given a political mandate to represent such views.

The government spokesperson said concerning next year’s budget that it is the government’s responsibility to monitor European and global economic processes, and a number of signs appear to indicate that there are areas where the Eurozone is vulnerable. We must prepare for this, and they will therefore raise the country protection fund and the budget’s security reserves by 50 per cent as a precautionary measure.

He said on the programme that they had identified four goals. These are security, the maintenance of growth, family support and job creation.
