Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács has told Hungarian television channel M1 that border protection falls within the competence of the Member States in the EU, the Government has never given it up and never will. However, it will still make every effort to prevent a permanent mechanism for the distribution of migrants from being established.
Considering the relocation mechanism, which had been set for two years and is expiring on Tuesday, the Government Spokesperson said that the tragic numbers of implementation are proof of everything but success. What the Government of Hungary has been stating for two years has proved right: a sweeping majority of those who arrive are not eligible for protection, he added.
Mr. Kovács pointed out that some elements of Emmanuel Macron’s Tuesday speech bear some eerie resemblance to the “Soros Plan”, they are waiting helplessly for what Europe is about to face.
Regarding the proposal of the French President, according to which a European asylum agency should be established, Mr. Kovács said, that this way, migration would be organised rather than prevented.
