According to Government Spokesperson Zoltan Kovács, now is the time to “keep our wits about us” to prevent the realisation of the political intention to turn the states of Central Europe, including Hungary, into immigrant states.
Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Thursday evening current affairs program, Mr. Kovács was asked with relation to the fact that Hungary is submitting a 12-point proposal to the UN migration package. The Government Spokesperson said the Government has chosen the same route that it usually takes within the European Union on issues relating to handling migration, it is putting forward a concrete proposal. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been given a mandate to put forward a robust and clear Hungarian position before the international community based on these 12 points, he added.
Mr. Kovács said that in his opinion there are extremely important issues currently on the agenda in the EU and the UN with relation to which, if a bad decision is made now, it could give rise to irreversible events in the mid-term, adding that in the case of the UN these are being called recommendations for the moment, but we “know very well” that these will later become mandatory guidelines.
“It is inconceivable for sovereign states to be stripped of the opportunity to decide for themselves about protecting their own borders”, he highlighted.
With relation to the arson attack against the headquarters of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association in Uzhhorod (Ungvár), the Government Spokesperson said it was perhaps not an overstatement to claim that the very existence of the Hungarian community in Ukraine is under threat. The Hungarian Government is taking all possible action in the interests of Transcarpathian Hungarians, he stressed.
Mr. Kovács also spoke about the fact that at the upcoming general elections on 8 April people will have to decide whether to place their confidence in a government that represents national interests and wants to stop migration, or an opposition that submits to the Soros plan and is striving to realise it.
