On Tuesday morning, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told public television channel M1 that, with regard to illegal migration, “we must stop avoiding the subject”.

The Government Spokesperson said that for years the Greek authorities have been indicating that among those arriving, there are some “who are very strongly linked to the terrorist threat already present in Europe, or could establish very strong links with it”; for some time now security policy experts as well as police forces have also been saying that in Europe the threat of terrorism has never been as high as it is now.

Mr. Kovács added that we must start identifying the elements which clearly connect illegal migration with terrorism. He emphasised that due to the EU’s inability to take decisions “we need a completely new European policy”.
