Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics pointed out that more than 20 per cent of the entire Hungarian GDP directly originates from the digital industry, and this sector employs 400,000 people, almost 10 per cent of the country’s total work force.

In his words, it is also an indication of Hungary’s success that the conference is being held in Budapest for the second time.

Eighty per cent of Hungary’s industry is based on cutting-edge technologies; in Poland, for instance, this percentage is 20 per cent which proves that with the right decisions even smaller countries can be successful, the Minister stressed.

The role of artificial intelligence (AI) will increase ever further, and Hungary itself is preparing for this: The country’s AI strategy will be completed by the end of the year, he said, observing that they have also created a 5G platform, and the relevant tender will be closed at the end of October. While he admitted that there are risks in every new technology, he stressed that it is the duty of legislature to avoid them by creating appropriate conditions.
