Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics held talks on cooperation opportunities with the Minister of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and the leaders of the German state’s most important higher education institutions, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday.

According to the statement, at his meeting with Transport Minister Winfried Hermann, the possibility was raised that the ZalaZone automotive industry test track might also be suitable for testing motorway traffic control systems manufactured and developed in the state, as well as freight vehicles driven via an external electric network and the required network infrastructure.

The two ministers agreed that during the preparation and realisation of the transport elements of the some 1000 billion forints (EUR 3.1bn) in development planned in the Hungarian capital thanks to the agreement between the Government and the Municipality of Budapest, it would be expedient to transpose some of the experiences gained during the Stuttgart21 transport giga-project.

Mr. Palkovics held talks on expanding research cooperation and the joint launching of programmes with Hungarian universities that provide dual diplomas with the leaders of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The Minister’s meeting with the representatives of the University of Tübingen concerned opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence, neurobiological, cancer research and quantum systems, autonomic algorithms, new generation waste management and alternative electricity storage technologies, the statement reads.
