In the automotive sector, we have all it takes to be a leader. As the sector’s rapid changes require prompt adaptation, those who cannot keep up with the best in the competition are left behind, Minister Mihály Varga said at Automotive Hungary 2017, the 5th International Exhibition for Automotive Industry Suppliers.
The Government is ready to provide a supportive environment that can help automotive enterprises gain the necessary advantage in a cut-throat global competition.
More attention must be paid to the support of innovation- and new technology-driven industrial production, he noted. This is purpose of the Irinyi Plan and the Ányos Jedlik Plan, or the Large Enterprise Investment Support scheme, which assists enterprises with high value added products and innovative solutions. The Government, enterprises and the Hungarian people must jointly address the challenges posed by the so-called 4th industrial revolution, and providing adequately skilled labour force is one of the first steps we must make.
The automotive industry has been a major growth engine of the Hungarian economy; the sector’s output totalled EUR 25.4bn in 2016, and 168 thousand people are employed in this field.
