Hungary’s Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga received HE Ambassador of the United States to Hungary Colleen Bell in his office on 20 March 2015. At the meeting, the two parties discussed opportunities for the further expansion of bilateral economic relations.

At the cordial event, Minister Varga and Ambassador Bell reviewed the development of bilateral ties, with special emphasis on future partnership options. Both parties stressed the importance of bolstering relations based on reciprocity and trust.
Mihály Varga pointed out that the USA has been Hungary’ number one export market and number two on the list of import partners outside the European Union. In 2014, the volume of bilateral trade totalled some USD 6bn, up by 10.5 percent year-on-year. As Minister Varga added, forty out of the fifty largest US corporations have subsidiaries in Hungary.
