Economic growth has been the driver of wage increases, Minister of State for Vocational Training and the Labour Market Sándor Czomba told public news channel M1 commenting on the latest wage data showing that wages in real terms were up by 4.1 percent in the first quarter of 2015.
He pointed out that it has been the result of a sound economic process, as this time – in contrast to the period before 2010 – wages have not been driven higher by lending growth.
The positive wage growth trend has been in place for the twenty-seventh month in a row, helping consumption growth which, in turn, has added to economic expansion, he said.
He stressed that employment growth has also been based on sound tendencies: the number of those employed in the private sector was up by 60 thousand, which constitutes GDP growth of 2-4 percent.
He said that the first contract under the “Come Home, Youth” programme is soon to be signed. There are already some 360 jobs which have been offered specifically for people wishing to return to their homeland from abroad.
