The achievements, development prospects and the Government’s supportive economic policy were the factors that have created a stable basis upon which domestic and foreign enterprises are building their success, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said, at the opening ceremony of a recently completed development project by Lenovo Hungary and Flex Hungary. The project is expected to create 250 new jobs.

Development projects in the info-communication sector are of special importance for our industrial development, Mihály Varga stated. Informatics is one of the most innovative and fastest-growing industrial sectors, which provided jobs for 400 thousand people in Hungary, in 2015.

The Ministry is working on a specialized industrial strategy aimed at increasing the weight of this sub sector, the Minister stressed. Measures under consideration are expected to add -- over the next three years -- 20 thousand people to the current labour force in the sector, and some 5 percent to gross output and added value. Taking ripple effects into consideration, this may create altogether 50-60 thousand new jobs and GDP growth of HUF 200bn up to 2020, the Minister noted.

This project, valued at more than HUF 0.5bn, bolsters Hungary’s position as manufacturer of informatics hardware, Mihály Varga said.
