Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga met with Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Chinibai Akunovich Tursunbekov to find options for bolstering industrial cooperation and existing economic ties.
As the Minister pointed out at the talks, there are excellent opportunities for bilateral economic partnership mainly in the field of healthcare and health industry, water management and environmental protection as well as the energy and pharmaceuticals industries. Mihály Varga outlined the current status of Hungarian bus manufacturing, placing special emphasis on Hungarian developments concerning electric buses. He welcomed the fact that Hungary also acts as a donor country in Kyrgyzstan, through EXIM Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
Hungary considers the Central Asian country, rich in minerals and raw materials, as a potential economic hub in the region. To help achieve this end, Hungary promotes the development of cooperation between the EU and Kyrgyzstan as well as the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union.
