The IMD delegation, headed by mission chief Khaled Sakr, conducts the regular annual Article IV economic policy consultations on 23 February-8 March 2017 in Budapest.
At one of these meetings Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga also received the delegation to jointly evaluate Hungary’s economic policy results of the past one year and outline potential macro-economic developments in 2017-2018, the fiscal situation as well as the global, regional and domestic economic and financial policy outlook.
Delegation members are scheduled to meet with representatives of the NGM and MNB as well as other delegates from the public and financial sectors.
The IMF experts are to make a detailed report in the next two months, by adding to it insights gained during the two-week visit to Hungary, which paper is to be discussed later by the IMF Executive Board.
