Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga called the new sight of Lendva, Slovenia, the Vinarium Lendva look-out tower, the symbol for cross-border economic and tourism cooperation between Hungary and Slovenia.

At the inauguration ceremony held jointly with Slovenia’s Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec in Slovenia’s Prekmurje (Muraköz) region, the Minister stated that the Hungarian Government does everything in its power to maintain cross-border projects in the next EU fiscal period.

From the more than 50 meters high, new look-out tower there is magnificent panoramic view on four countries: Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and Austria.
Mihály Varga emphasised that he highly appreciates the heart-felt backing of the country’s small Hungarian minority. He also highlighted the significance of the 5km-long new road providing a shortcut between two villages on either sides of the Hungarian-Slovenian border. The Minister reiterated that the Government endeavours to open until 2020 six new border crossing points between the two countries.

The look-out tower, the Minister added, opens up new horizons in tourism cooperation and it also boosts employment in the entire region.
