In Hungary, the upward retail sales trend has been in place for the 29th consecutive month, and according to expectations of the Ministry for National Economy, this positive trend is set to continue in the rest of the year, Deputy State Secretary for Domestic Economy Áron Márk Lenner told public news channel M1.

Commenting on the latest retail sales data, the Deputy State Secretary said that in October 2015 the volume of retail sales grew – according to data adjusted for calendar effects – by 4.5 percent year-on-year.

He also highlighted the fact that the largest increase was registered in the sales volume of durable goods (7.8 percent year-on-year), which signals that consumer confidence has improved as households are getting more capable of and willing to purchase durable consumer goods.
