In the category Theme Development, the Hungarian pavilion was selected as the second best after that of Switzerland by an international independent panel of nine international experts from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which had evaluated some 140 exhibitors of the Expo in a two-step process.

The ranking shows that the Hungarian exhibition was regarded as excellent not only by expo visitors but a professional panel as well, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga noted, commenting on the news.

The concept of the Hungarian pavilion focused on solar energy and the Tree of Life, as the symbol a plant that optimally utilizes the energy of the sun. Visitors could familiarize themselves with the latest Hungarian innovations in this field, the Minister pointed out. The exhibition, the Minister added, allowed insight into the versatility of our culture, our traditional products of special values and Hungarian-Kazakh relations alike. As the number of visitors also show the Hungarian pavilion was successful: it had been visited by some 300 thousand people in the past three months, he stressed.

This year’s good performance and the experiences gained through the Expo will also contribute to the success of the country at upcoming expos in the next years, Mihály Varga stated.
