It has been mainly attributable to profitable and increasingly successful domestic enterprises that future perspectives are favourable for both Hungary and the Hungarian economy, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at the presentation ceremony of the Awards for Successful Enterprises in Budapest. The Minister handed over awards for six companies in three categories.
Thanks to Government measures, Hungary’s economy has become competitive not only in comparison to its former self, but also from an international perspective, Mihály Varga stated. Several milestones mark the major successes of the Hungarian economy in recent years; for example, the number of companies that have received an award from the Ministry in each month since August 2013 has been nearing 100. When the award was established, many people were sceptical if there were enough successful enterprises in Hungary capable of complying with strict professional and financial requirements, the Minister recalled. By now, he added, it has become clear that one of the guarantees of the success of the Hungarian economy lies in the ever higher number of profitable companies.
Results are highlighted by the fact that more and more investment projects are being realized in a favourable environment, the number of people in employment is rising and domestic consumption has been growing for the 30th consecutive month.
The “Investor of the Month” award went to Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Ltd and Európa-Center-Miskolc Ltd. Speaking of the awardees, Mihály Varga said that the confidence of Mercedes has been unbroken in the Hungarian economy for years, and the fact that the company was about to build a new production facility at the Kecskemét base is a sign of that trust. Európa-Center-Miskolc Ltd has set up a modern office complex and an industrial park.
Procon Hajtástechnika Ltd, a manufacturer of high-capacity energy storage components, and textiles specialist Naturtex Ltd were awarded the “SME of the Month” title.
Software-developer Slamby Semantics Ltd and health-conscious bakery Greenpass Ltd received the “Startup of the Month” awards.
