Representatives of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, the Ministry of Human Resources and the Ministry for National Economy signed a partnership agreement designed to help achieve strategic goals of the Irinyi Plan.

We must shift towards an innovation-driven economy in order to modernize the structure of industrial output and facilitate higher added value production. The industrial sector must be based on knowledge, R&D, higher and vocational education, Minister of State for Economic Development and Regulation István Lepsényi said in his speech.

In line with the Government’s re-industrialization guidelines, the Ministry for National Economy has evaluated which main economic sectors may best assist in steering the economy towards a higher growth path and reach an industrial output-to-GDP ratio of 30 percent, he pointed out. Through realizing the priorities of the Irinyi Plan, he added, the Government can give further impetus to the national industrial sector, by utilizing innovation, helping the creation of jobs and boosting the competitiveness and export capacity of domestic enterprises. A reformed, updated and larger industrial sector will require skilled labour in higher numbers than ever before, therefore secondary and tertiary education institutions must brace themselves well for these challenges.

The MoU concluded by the signatories will enable the timely realization of the objectives of the Irinyi Plan through coordinated ministerial measures in both a direct and indirect way, by utilizing synergies and profiting from a more optimal use of human and financial resources.
