Employment reached a new milestone: unemployment rate fell to an 11-year low of 6.2 percent in Hungary

The number of people in employment has been above the 4 million mark for more than one year and a half – according to the latest jobs report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). The number of people in employment aged 15-74 years was up by 118 thousand, to 4 million 273 thousand in the period September-November 2015.

Volume of exports up by 9.5 percent in October 2015

The volume of exports and imports in Hungary grew year-on-year by 9.5 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively, in the month of October 2015. Foreign trade posted a surplus of EUR 605 million in the observed period, up by EUR 322 million year-on-year. According to estimates, the full-year surplus may reach an all-time high amount of EUR 8bn.

Hungarian retail sector expansion in place for 29th consecutive month

The volume of retail sales in Hungary grew by 4.6 percent year-on-year in the month of October 2015. The largest increase of 8 percent was registered at durable goods retailers, which signals the improvement of consumer confidence and higher disposable incomes at households.

Wages in real terms on the rise for almost three years in Hungary

Wages in real terms were up by 4.2 percent year-on-year in the period January-October 2015, according to the flash report of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH):
Thus, wages in real terms have been rising for the 34th straight month in Hungary. In addition, in comparison to October 2014, the number of private sector jobs was up by 55 thousand at enterprises with at least five employees.

Government support enables the purchasing of 20 electric buses for public transport in Budapest

The Government is offering a non-refundable grant of EUR 3.9bn for the Budapest Transport Company Ltd (BKV) to purchase electric buses, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga announced yesterday. The agreement on e-mobility development project was signed by Minister Varga and BKV CEO-President Tibor Bolla. The fiscal resources required for the purchasing of electric buses and related infrastructure development will be covered by revenues from Hungary’s CO2 quota sales.
