Minister of Agriculture István Nagy met with the ambassadors of Austria, Georgia and Moldavia in Budapest in order to boost international agricultural relations
With relation to his negotiations with Elisabeth Ellison-Kramer, Austria’s ambassador to Hungary, Mr. Nagy emphasised the importance of agricultural cooperation with the neighbouring country’s regions. Austria is also a prime partner of the Ministry of Agriculture in the areas of agricultural and environmental health.
Hungary is striving for comprehensive cooperation with Georgia, István Nagy told Georgia’s ambassador. The parties discussed, among other topics, animal husbandry, viniculture, fishing and aquaculture, and agreed that the two countries’ experts would negotiate about specific cooperation opportunities in 2019.
István Nagy talked about rural development, environmental protection and irrigation with Oleg Tulea, ambassador of the Republic of Moldova. They identified the most important areas of Hungarian-Moldavian agricultural relations, namely cooperation in higher education, and the development of business ties.
The Minister noted during the negotiations that 2019 would be a year of active international cooperation. Mr. Nagy informed the ambassadors about the National Agriculture and Food Fair, an event to be held in September. The fair is being organised by the Agricultural Marketing Centre. Foreign exhibitors are also welcome.
