Following the meeting of the Hungarian-Georgian Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation and the establishment of the Agriculture Working Group at the end of November, a Georgian delegation made up of 13 officials responsible for EU integration arrived for a two-day visit to Hungary in early December. The delegation was received at the Ministry of Agriculture by Deputy State Secretary for International Relations Katalin Tóth.

During their visit, the Georgian delegation was briefed on Hungary’s general and sector-specific experiences relating to EU integration, the opportunities and challenges associated with EU membership, the active role played by the Ministry of Agriculture in institution development projects, and the fact that the Hungarian Ministry is accepting students from Georgia for Masters-level agrarian education within the framework of the FAO scholarship programme.

Ministry representatives offered the Georgian delegation the Ministry’s assistance in acting as beneficiary country partner if Georgia would like to apply for EU twin institution development (Twinning or TAIEX) project funding.
