“In addition to expanding cooperation with China’s provinces and developing scientific cooperation, opportunities for several other forms of agricultural cooperation will also become available as a result of high-level Hungarian-Chinese negotiations”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas declared.

Following the talks, the Minister and his negotiating partner signed an agreement on the export of Hungarian honey to China.

“Within the field of Hungarian-Chinese agricultural relations, the Government is concentrating on expanding direct cooperation with China’s provinces. In future, cooperation could expand to include e-commerce aimed at enabling a presence on the speciality goods market, as well as the exchange of practical experience with relation to agricultural digitalisation”, Mr. Fazekas told reporters.

The parties agreed to tighten relations within the field of agriculture forestry in future. Agricultural forestry is particularly important with relation to the fact that it protects both water resources and the soil, while increasing the quantity of carbon that is bonded to the soil in the long term, thus decreasing the quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

“Thanks to the latest agreements, the outstanding quality honey produced by all Hungarian honey farmers will now have the opportunity to reach the Chinese market”, Mr. Fazekas stressed.
