The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (NFCSO) has found another batch of eggs contaminated with fipronil, with an identification number 3HU1503T03/4, during the course of the targeted testing of eggs and egg products ordered in early August. The food safety authority has immediately begun investigations into the source and method of contamination, in addition to which it has ordered the eggs to be withdrawn from the market.

During the course of the targeted testing of eggs and egg products, which was ordered in early August, the NFCSO laboratory has identified fipronil in a lot of Hungarian eggs. The identification number stamped on the eggs is 3HU1503T03/4. The food safety authority has begun immediate investigations into how the contamination occurred and whether the case is linked to the Europe-wide fipronil scandal. The authority has also ordered the eggs to be withdrawn from the market.

It is not recommended that children consume products containing residues of fipronil.

In view of the fact that the fipronil scandal is affecting practically all of Europe, in addition to “imported” products the National Food Chain Safety Office is also placing particular emphasis on testing Hungarian eggs and egg products.
