Official statistical activity:

The ministry of Agriculture produces and publishes statistical data which represent the financial trends of agro economy, the state of the environment, the forestry and game management. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture collaborates with the Hungarian Central Statistical Office and the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics in order to improve the agricultural statistics.

The scope of the collected official statistical data:

· Statistics on agro economy loans are based on quarterly data provision of financial institutions. The data show the total credit stock and the sum of new lending provided to agro economy by currency (HUF or foreign currency), duration, objective (e.g. working capital or investment loan), as well as main activity (NACE) and legal forms.

· Environmental statistics: air quality data are produced based on monitoring station-networks and provide data regarding the pollutant content in the air, while data on protected sites are based on administrative registers of the ministry.

· The forestry data provides insight into the production of propagating material, logging, wood manufacturing on an annual basis. These data are granted by the National Food Chain Safety Office.

· Statistical data on hunting and game management are provided by the National Game Management Database (operated by the Szent István University). The database includes data in connection with game management (breeding, placing, animal nutrition, shot, capturing) and the most relevant information about the game stock, refreshed annually.
