In accordance with the annual call-up plan, there are more than a hundred voluntary reservists serving in the Hungarian Defence Forces also at present. However, in the state of crisis caused by mass migration, reservists are being called up in even larger numbers than before.

They will primarily perform the barracks duties of those active soldiers who have been involved in the operations related to the temporary security border fence and the Decisive Action 2015 military exercise for over a more extended period. In addition, voluntary operational reservists may be involved in any activities, other than policing responsibilities, during the course of the works carried out near the border.
