The Hungarian troops participating in NATO Exercise “Iron Sword 2014” have arrived in Lithuania.
Around 2,500 troops from nine NATO countries are participating in the international exercise “Iron Sword 2014” which starts on Monday, November 3 near Pabrade, on the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Range.
Most members of the nearly 140-strong Hungarian contingent are drawn from the 39th Infantry Battalion of the HDF 5th “Bocskai István” Infantry Brigade. During the combined training events, the Hungarians will form a battalion-sized unit with a Lithuanian and a US company.
At the site, after occupying the tent camp, the members of the Hungarian company were introduced to the training area, received their individual gears and prepared for the successful execution of the training tasks.
Following the NATO Wales Summit in September, Minister of Defence Csaba Hende announced that Hungary would join the exercise series in the region as part of the reinforcement measures.
