On 22 January in Budapest, Minister of Defence Dr. István Simicskó received Romanian Ambassador Marius Gabriel Lazurca, who was on an introductory visit to the Ministry.
Romania’s former ambassador to Budapest left his post on 30 March 2016, and his successor, Marius Gabriel Lazurca, presented his credentials to President of the Republic János Áder on 12 September 2016.
At the meeting, Dr. Simicskó stressed that bilateral military relations between the two countries are balanced and problem-free. Good examples of concrete military cooperation include the joint Hungarian-Romanian peacekeeping battalion, and the annual exercises of the multinational “TISZA” disaster response engineering battalion and biannual air search and rescue exercises, both of which are founded on regional cooperation, the Minister added.
