“121 aeroplanes have brought the equipment necessary for health care protection to Hungary from China to date”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday evening.
Mr. Szijjártó held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and reporting on the meeting explained that he had thanked his Chinese counterpart for the assistance that the Chinese authorities have provided to Hungary with relation to procuring the equipment required for successful healthcare protection. “121 aeroplanes have brought the equipment necessary for healthcare protection to Hungary from China to date, including masks, gloves, protective clothing and respirators”, he stated, adding: “The shipments will continue over the coming months”.
“Economic cooperation between China and Hungary is continuing to develop well; 9 major Chinese investments have arrived in Hungary over the part three years, and Chinese enterprises now have one of the highest investment values in Hungary”, he highlighted. “These Chinese companies are all bringing high-standard, modern technologies to Hungary”, he added.
“Digitalisation and 5G technology are playing an important role in the dimensional transition of the Hungarian economy”, the Minister said. “The 5G network has been available in Budapest’s city centre since last spring, and this Vodafone network was set up by Huawei”, he pointed out.
Mr. Szijjártó reminded the press that the agreement on the modernisation of the railway line linking Budapest and Belgrade has been successfully concluded, and accordingly the financial backing for this important investment project is now also available. “Thanks to the project, the shortest and fastest route for Chinese goods from the Greek ports to Western Europe will pass through Hungary”, he explained.
The Foreign Minister also said that financial cooperation between the two countries is also developing well in view of the fact that cooperation between the Hungarian National Bank and China’s central bank is outstanding, and the parties have agreed to expand this cooperation in future. “Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Chinese Premier will be holding a telephone discussion on Friday, and the Chinese Foreign Minister and I took the opportunity to also make preparations for this meeting”, he noted.
