“Five million face masks, a hundred and forty respirators and over thirty thousand hazmat suits are arriving on Wednesday from China”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a video posted to his Facebook page.

In the video, which was taken during the meeting proceeding Wednesday’s Cabinet session, Mr. Szijjártó said protective healthcare equipment is continuously arriving from China.

He pointed out that eight planes had arrived on Tuesday and a further seven are expected on Wednesday, two of which have already landed.
“One FedEx flight landed a few minutes after 1 a.m. bringing a total of over five thousand pairs of gloves. The other cargo plane landed a little after 6 a.m. bringing with it some 20 thousand face masks to Budapest”, the Minister said.

“We are expecting a further five planes on Wednesday”, he added, adding that one, which is on its way to Budapest from Hong Kong, is currently refuelling in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. “This is the plane that is transporting the aforementioned 140 respirators”, he explained.

“Three of the planes are expected to land in Budapest at around 7 a.m. and will be bringing with them the almost five million face masks, thanks to which we will have accumulated a quantity of face masks that may be regarded as significant”, he added. As a result, the total number of face masks acquired by Hungary will have increased to 36 million, it was stated.
